Pauline Wambles Motes, 91, of Bartow, Florida, left this world to live forever with our Lord Jesus on August 14, 2021, exactly 41 years to the day when the love of her life, James, passed away. She was surrounded by the love of her family. She was born January 16, 1930, in Coffee County, Alabama, to Ida and Charlie Wambles. She married, James Thomas Motes, on May 31, 1947, at the age of 17. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Bartow. Although we will miss her deeply, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is at peace and has joined her husband, James, and her great-granddaughter, Kaylee Rabun, and a host of other loved ones. She is survived by four children: James Thomas Motes, Jr. (Mary) of New Smyrna Beach, and Patricia Scarbrough (Don), Janice Sylvain (Mark) and Diane Miller of Bartow; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers; and many very special in-laws, nieces and nephews. Pauline loved to cook, sew, quilt and read. She hand-quilted more than 100 quilts, which will be treasured by her family. Her good home cooking was widely known and eagerly devoured by many. Most of all, she was a beautiful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed. A private family service will be held in her honor at a later date.
