Patricia H. Whidden passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018, surrounded by her family. Patricia was born in Brewster, FL, on January 9, 1942 to Gladys and Francis Hancock. She graduated from Ft. Meade High School and married her husband, Jim Whidden, in 1963. They were married for nearly 55 years, moving from Bartow, FL, in 1979 and settling in Tucker, GA, and eventually, Suwanee, Ga. She was a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Patricia worked as a legal secretary and was a real estate agent. She was a church volunteer and a member of the Junior League. But she will be best remembered for the devotion she had to her husband, children and grandchildren, and her ability to make every birthday, holiday and event special. She was a great cook and baked the most wonderful desserts. Patricia is survived by her husband, Jim, her three children, Debbie Lumpkin (Bob) of Marietta, GA, Becky Bishop (Tommy) of Marietta, GA, Jim Whidden III (Martha) of Cumming, GA, and her eight grandchildren, Reid, Jacob, Erin, Leah, James, Lily, Catherine and Evelina. She is also survived by her brothers, Butch Hancock (Lois), and Bill Hancock (Brenda), and sister, Iris Hancock of Polk County, FL as well as her sister-in-law, Carolyn Bullard (Bob) of Tallahassee, FL, her brother-in-law, Fred Bohde of Bartow, FL, and her brother-in-law, Ted Whiting of Bartow, FL. A service to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church of Alpharetta, GA. The family will receive friends at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL, on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL. Memorials may be made to the Alpharetta First United Church Building Fund.
