Pastor John P. Shivler

Lakeland - Pastor John P. Shivler, age 71, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Health and Medical Center. Born April 9, 1947 in Springfield, OH, to Roland H. and Albereta Yarger Shivler, Pastor Shivler was a resident of Lakeland since late 1980's, moving from Bartow. He was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Church of God and pastor of the Genesis Assembly of God of Highland City. He was a member and past Chancelor Red Star Lodge of the Knights of Pithias. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lynn Hamilton & Diane Adean Paige; a brother Paul "Randy" Shivler & a grandson: John P. Shivler V. He was survived his wife of 52 years: Dixie L. Shivler, a son: John P. Shivler, Jr. both of Lakeland, a daughter: Maria Elena Torres of Kissimmee, two brothers: Roland Shivler, Jr. (Kiku), Las Vegas, NV and Don Shivler (Vickie) of Springfield, OH, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren & 3 foster children. A memorial serivce will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Genesis Assembly of God, 4015 Central Avenue, Highland City, FL 33846.
