Otto H. Dixon

Otto H. Dixon, age 79, passed away, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at home in Alturas. Born February 24, 1937 in Montgomery, GA, he was the son of the late Marshall and Mattie Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Smith Brothers Oil Company in Bartow after 30 years of faithful service. Otto was a longtime member of Alturas United Methodist Church and was very active in the Alturas Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Dixon was a avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Otto is survived by a loving family that includes his wife, of 55 years, Carolyn Dixon of Alturas, two daughters: Teresa Mitchell (Mike) of Eagle Lake, Regina Young of Bartow, two brothers: Glen Dixon (Sharon) and Foy Dixon (Shirley) all of Lakeland. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Victoria Young of Bartow, Caleb Mitchell and Bailey Mitchell both of Eagle Lake. A memorial service will be held at Alturas United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 13th at 11:00am. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alturas United Methodist Church or Good Shepherd Hospice.
