Oscar Mendoza Cabanas

Mr. Oscar M. Cabanas, age 91 died Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home in Bartow. Born in Key West on August 16, 1917, Mr. Cabanas moved to Bartow over 65 years ago. Mr. Cabanas owned and operated Oscar's Barber Shop for 39 years. He also owned the Square Deal Grocery Store. Mr. Cabanas was a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Thearter under General George Patton in the Army Air Corps. He was also a member of the V.F.W. of Bartow Post #2405. Mr. Cabanas was Catholic. He is preceded in death by his wife Beulah M. Cabanas. He is survived by three sons; Oscar W. Cabanas of Bartow, Gabriel R. Cabanas of Lakeland, Manuel L. Cabanas also of Bartow, and his daughter Marie Lane of Fort Meade. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. No services are scheduled at this time.
