Olga P. Dozier passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at her residence in Lakeland. She was 100.
Born August 2, 1906 in Lake Butler, FL , she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Stella Priester. Mrs. Dozier attended Florida State College for Women, earned a B.S. degree from Florida Southern College, and performed some graduate work at Universities of Florida, Duke and Maine. She taught public school for 43 years, beginning in Sarasota (3 yrs.) and then in Bartow. Mrs. Dozier's professional affiliations include; NEA, FEA, PEA, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, FCTM, PCTM, AAUW (Lamda Chapter), and Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was also a longtime member of the First United Church of Bartow, where she was a Board member, former Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member, member of Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class for 40 years, and Past President of Women of the Church.
Mrs. Dozier was the widow of Vernon E. Dozier, a former Bartow Area Superintendant of Schools. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Frankie P. Drake, and two brothers, Harold and Wallace Priester. She is survived by her daughter; Dolores D. Lester (Don), grandchildren; Kim Lester Anderson (Tony), Lori Lester Lyles (Robert), Lee Lester (Janet), and her great grandchildren; Blair and Cooper Anderson, Elliott Lyles, and Emily and Kaitlyn Crooks.
Services for Mrs. Dozier will be held Friday, May 18, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 455 South Broadway Ave., Bartow.
