Bartow- Norman Sidney Eilertsen, 92, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Bartow Regional Medical Center. A native of Winnetka, IL, Mr. Eilertsen had been a resident of Bartow since 1971, moving from Lakeland. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he was a member of the Beta Signa Psi Fraternity He was an insurance agent for Gulf Life Insurance Co. for many years. He was past president and Underwriter of the Year for the Lakeland Association of Life Underwriters. He was a charter member of the Dixieland Lions Club & past president of Imperial Lions Club, Lakeland, having perfect attendence of 53 years with Lions Club International. He served as a Boy Scout & Explorer Scout Leader. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel, US Air Force, serving on Tinian Island in the Pacific during WW II, later serving in the Korean conflict. He is preceded in death by his son Jack Eilertsen. He is survived by his wife Martha Ellen Eilertsen, Bartow; son Jeff Eilertsen & companion Alicia Elie, Lakeland; daughter Jill & husband Edward Maassen of Arcadia; 2 step daughters: Claudia & husband David Reich of Greensboro, N.C.; Cindy & husband David Colton of Hampton, Conn.; 9 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday, March 28, 10:15-11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Bartow. Services will follow at 11 AM at the church.
