Nettie R. Clark, 90, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 11, 2011 of natural causes. Born in Lowery Alabama on August 25, 1921, Mrs. Clark moved with her family at the age of 14 to the Lake Garfield area in 1935. She is the eldest daughter of the late Melvin and Sabina Harrison. She was a graduate of Summerlin Institute, class of 1940. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Vernon “Bud” Clark; sister, Mamie L. Anderson; and granddaughter, Ellen R. Harrison. She is survived by brothers, James A. Harrison of Lake Buffum, and Van B. Harrison of Bartow, and a sister, Betty J. Young (Bill) of Bartow. Mrs. Clark is also survived by her four children; Reba E. Ellis (Milton), Anita R. Harrison, Glenn J. Clark (Diane), Jeffrey A. Clark and her “adopted” son, Jack E. Davis, Jr., all of Bartow. Mrs. Clark has 12 grandchildren: Regina D. Dalton (David), Rhonda E. Miller (Richard), Michael L. Ellis (Tammie), Bradley V. Ellis, Julia A. Olivier (Brad), Alan H. Harrison (Jane), Eugene C. Harrison (Caryn), Benjamin H. Harrison (Christy), Rachel E. Clark, Matthew B. Clark and Rebecca S. Clark. Mrs. Clark also has 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She and her husband moved a tiny one-room building located near the old 91 Mine to a lot on the Old Homeland Road in 1942, and began their family where Mrs. Clark lived for the past 70 years. Retired from Ametek in 1992, Mrs. Clark previously worked for Polk County Public Schools and Ben Hill Griffin. Mrs. Clark’s biggest love was her family and the home that she built with her late husband. She enjoyed being outside, and the time that she spent with her extended family. She will be remembered by her family, friends and acquaintances for her unwavering strength, determination, candor and sense of humor. Family will receive friends Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery.
