Bartow - Nadine Waters Robbins, 82, passed away and went to Heaven on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Nadine was born on March 9, 1943, at home in Jasper, Florida. She Graduated from Summerlin Institute, Bartow, FL in 1961 and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Florida Southern College and master’s degree from University of South Florida. Nadine was an elementary school teacher and retired from Oscar Pope Elementary, Lakeland in 2005. Nadine was active in church as a board member, church historian, choir member, piano player, and substitute organ player at First United Methodist Church in Bartow. A life-long educator she remained involved as a pre-school reading volunteer, board member and pianist for the Polk County Retired Teachers Association. She loved spending time with her family, keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and reading, and enjoyed riding with her husband on his Harley motorcycle. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents Wendell Dustin Waters & Frances Macnamara Waters. She is survived by her husband of 47 years John Johnson, Bartow, daughter Rose Robbins (Rod) of St. Petersburg, grandchildren Isabel Sanchez and Daniel Sanchez of St. Petersburg, brother Roger Waters (Joan) of Auburndale, sister Dorothy Waters Cleaves of Palm Bay, 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 5 great nieces, 2 great nephews, step daughter Belinda Hoglund ( Karl), stepson John Johnson Jr., 4 step nephews and a chihuahua named Pepper. Family will receive friends Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Bartow. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
