Myra Anne Hochstafl Davis

Myra Anne Hochstafl Davis, age 77, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025, in Alturas, FL. She was born December 1, 1947, in Shreveport, LA, to Annie & James Hochstafl. Myra graduated from Bossier High School, Bobcats, class of 1966. She was a beloved Preschool Teacher and PE Coach for Oaks School in Bartow from 1982 to 1992. Myra was an intriguing Storyteller, a Workshop Leader, and a Festival Director from 1992 - 2020. She was active in community associations and volunteered in various activities around Bartow and Polk County. She attended Alturas Community Church since moving back to the area in 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Melanie D. Davis, and her husband Larry Davis. Myra is survived by her daughter Wendy L. (Eckstadt) James of Palmetto, GA, son Troy Davis of Alturas, two grandchildren Grace Katherine James & Meredith James, both of Palmetto, GA, two sisters, Joyce Couch of Pineville, LA & Judy Chandler of Bossier City, LA, and extended family. A Celebration of Myra's Life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 3:15 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be immediately after the service.
