Minnie S. King

Mrs. Minnie S. King, age 90 and Bartow resident, passed away from natural causes Thurs., April 2, 2009. Born October 17, 1918 in Anderson County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Nola (Cox) Pike. Mrs. King was a longtime member of Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow, and retired from the Polk County School Board where she worked as a food service technician. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Alvin I. King, Sr., and her two sons Alvin I. King, Jr. and Charles Lynn King. She is survived by her daugther Joan Predmore (Roy) of Lakeland, four sons; Don King (Patsy) of Jasper, FL, Jerry King (Linda) of Lake City, TN, Billy King (Gloria) of Lakeland, and Lanny King (Sidney) of Bartow. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Sunday April 5th from 2 to 4 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Monday April 6th at 11am at the funeral home chapel.
