Mildred E. Stenger

Eagle Lake- Mildred Evelyn Harrington Stenger, 96, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Life Care Center Of Winter Haven of heart failure. Born December 28, 1913 in Chicago, IL, Mrs. Stenger has been a resident of Polk County since 1924, moving from Chicago. She was a graduate of Bartow Summerlin Institute; attended Florida State College for Women; and was a graduate of Gordon Keller School of Nursing with a R.N. degree in 1936. She served as head nurse for Bartow Memorial Hospital before marrying Louis J. Stenger in June 1940. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bartow; United Methodist Women & Garden Gate Circle of Bartow. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis J. Stenger & son-in-law: Richard D. Fackender. She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Fackender of Winter Haven and Jackie Stoltz & husband Walter of Eagle Lake. four grandchildren: Kevin Stoltz & wife Monica; Brett Stoltz; Stacie Fackender Lott & husband Johnathan; Stephanie Fackender Murphy & husband Kevin; five great grandchildren: Sean Stoltz ; Jacob Stoltz; Austin Fackender; Morgan Lott; & Jack Murphy. Family will receive friends Thursday, May 13, 6-8 P.M. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services willl be held Friday 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
