Mildred G. Ballantyne lost her 13 year battle with cancer on August 10, 2011. Born on June 24, 1927 in Wauchula, FL, she was a graduate of Wauchula High School and attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee. A lifelong resident of Hardee County, Mrs. Ballantyne was a homemaker and a citrus grower for over 60 years. She was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy I. Ballantyne and her brother Ward W. Gillette, Jr.. Mrs. Ballantyne is survived by her daughters Kathy Mulcay and husband Bill, Debbie Pyle and husband Jim, all of Wauchula; granddaughters Kelly Lowe and husband Mike of Lakeland and Karen Kelly and husband David of Eustis; and five great grandchildren; Matthew, Sarah, and Anna Lowe of Lakeland, and Katherine and J.T. Kelly of Eustis. Additionally, she is survived by sisters-in-law Peggy Gillette of Wuachula and Carlotta Sinclair of Independence, MO, and brother-in-law Jim Ballantyne, also of Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow on August 13th at 11:00AM with Rev. Darrell Arnold, Mr. William T. Mulcay, Jr., and Mr. David R. Kelly officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment services will be conducted at the Wauchula Cemetery at 2:00PM.
