Michael S. Cox

Michael S. Cox, age 48, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 in Lakeland. Born on January 9, 1965 in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late Ralph S. Cox and Barbara H. Cox. Mike was a career serviceman. He retired from the U.S. Army after many years of decorated service. Mr. Cox is survived by four sons; Michael S. Cox, II of Saint Petersburg, Zachary H. Cox of Riverdale, GA, Jonathan A. Cox of Fredericks burg, VA, and Alexander J. Cox of Lakeland, his step daughter Faith Marie Revell of Lakeland, his mother Barbara H Cox of Bartow, his brother Butch Burgess and wife Dawn of Fredericksburg, VA, his sister Pamela Batson of Oklahoma and his nephews Tom Burgess of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ryan Burgess of Valrico. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 7th from 3pm to 5pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. An additional visitation will be held on Monday, December 9th from 10am to 11am at the funeral home with a funeral service scheduled to commence at 11:00am. Interment services, with military honors are scheduled Monday afternoon at 2:30pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
