Merry Eldridge

Bartow -Merry Eldridge , age 88, passed away March 18, 2023, peacefully with her family at her side at her residence in Bartow. She was born on January 28, 1935, in Polk County. She was a Homemaker. She won Miss Citrus Queen and Miss Florida Christian College when she was younger. She enjoyed reading her bible, sharing her faith, and helping people in need. She was preceded in death by her sons Lewis B. Haygood, III & James Gregory Haygood, sister Joy Teague, grandson Charles Austin O'Neal & one baby in heaven and father of her children Benard Haygood Jr. She is survived by a loving family that includes her daughter Deborah O'Neal ( Charles ) of Winter Haven, son Michael Haygood (Melanie) of Land O Lakes, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Gay Ford of Bartow, ex-husband Robert Eldridge and his children Susan Irick & Warren Eldridge. Family will receive friends Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
