Melva Douglas Stokes, age 88, of Bowling Green, KY, died Friday, October 2, 2009. She was born June 17, 1921 in Douglas, GA. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband; Edwin B. Stokes, Sr. Brother; Thomas Douglas and her six sisters; Danary Tillis, Zelma Pierce, Ethel Burnsed, Jean Stephens, Frances Fussell and Minnie Weisner. She is survived by her Daughter; Rhonda Bracey and Husband Paul of Ft. Worth, TX. Two Sons; Rev. Thomas S. Stokes and Wife Virginia of Tompkinsville, KY and Edwin B. Stokes, Jr. of Bowling Green, KY. Two Sisters; Lessie Driscoll and Husband Walker of Lakeland, FL and Carolyn Leddy and Husband Walt of Orlando, FL. Seven Grandchildren Edwin B. and wife Jennifer Stokes III of Dunedin, FL, Glen D. Stokes, Bowling Green, KY, David T. Stokes and wife Gretchen of Bowling Green, KY, Debra Stokes, Tompkins, KY, Misty Lee Bracey, Erin Bracey, Harrison Bracey all of Fort Worth, TX. Four Great Grandchildren- Misty Stokes, Chrissy Stokes, Aaron Minex and Jordan Woolbridge. Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday, October 9, 2009. Funeral service will be at McLean Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 10, 2009 . Interment will be at Homeland Cemetery in Homeland, FL.
