Mell J. Hron

Mell Hron, 80, of Bartow passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from a stroke at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Baxley, GA, raised in Lakeland where she graduated from high school, attended Stetson University, met and married her husband Walter. They then moved to Pompano Beach, FL for Walter's career and moved back to Bartow 10 years ago after his retirement. Mell was a homemaker and a loving, devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed Quilting, Poetry and had a strong focus on service for children. She was a Girl Scout Leader and also volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem. She had a very clever and quick sense of humor. A wonderful woman with a grateful family and a host of friends, she will be dearly missed. Mell was preceded in death by her mother Odell Bader and is survived by her husband of 60 years Walter G. Hron of Bartow, FL. Daughters Debi Hron of Burlington, VT. Dr. Linda Hron of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Kathi Mulcahy of Carmel, CA. Her Grandson Benjamin Hron and his wife Shayna and their two children Aria and Tannon of Oviedo, FL. Sister Diane Zalanka and husband Rick of Lakeland and Brother Tommy Bader of Lake Wales. Mell's family will be receiving friends on Saturday, August 9th from 10-11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow with a memorial service starting at 11am.
