Melissa Phillips Osthoff, 68, passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 26, 2026, in Lakeland, Florida. She was born on June 15, 1957, in Lakeland, Florida. Melissa was the daughter of Frank and Addie Jean Phillips. She dedicated her life to teaching, touching countless lives with her patience, care, and commitment to her students. Melissa had a deep love for animals and found great joy riding her horse. She also loved playing her guitar and enjoyed the simple happiness music brought into her life. Traveling with her husband was one of her greatest joys, and together they created many cherished memories. Above all, she loved her family deeply. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Phillips, Jr. Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Osthoff; her mother, Addie Jean Phillips; her daughters, Chelsea Yearwood (Morgan Oliver) and Lindsey Yearwood (Jack Mannes); her beloved granddaughter, Addie James Oliver and brother Phil Phillips. Melissa will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. Family will receive friends Friday, January 30, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church in Bartow, FL. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm Friday, January 30, 2026, at McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church.
