Mayme Evelyn Read

Mayme Evelyn Read 88 passed away September 20, 2009 of heart failure at her residence in Lakeland. A native of Bartow she was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a Bookkeeper locally for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Fitzhugh T. Read; sister Rheta Lillian Olliphant; parents Horace King and Mayme Lillian Olliphant and step son Hugh Read. She is survived by daughter; Sandra Lanehart Logan and husband William of Charlotte, NC. Daughter; Rheta Evelyn Lanehart of Tampa, FL. Son; John Aubrey Lanehart Jr. and wife Tracy of San Francisco, CA. Step daughter; Georgie Gaye Read of Winter Haven, FL. and Step daughter Sarah Hilah Mercer and husband Bill of Merritt Island, FL. Grandchildren; Rheta Logan Whittington and husband Eric of Greensboro, NC; William Paine Logan and wife Laura of Darien, CT; Christopher Ewing Lanehart of San Francisco, CA; Jennifer Lanehart Ewing of San Francisco, CA and Nicholas Ewing Lanehart of San Francisco, CA. Great Grandchildren; Katie and Luke Whittington; Jack and Lucy Logan. A visitation will be at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow on Saturday 09/26/2009 from 12-1pm with services starting at 1pm.
