Maxie Hammond

Maxie E. Hammond, age 77, of Bartow, died Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Born January 10, 1931 in Sandy Ridge, VA, Mrs. Hammond has been a resident of Bartow for 16 years, moving from McComb, MS. Mrs. Hammond attended the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church of Bartow. She was preceded in death by her husband: William Hammond. She was survived by 3 daughters: Kay & husband James Downing of Bartow; Imogene "Jean" & husband Ray Ellis of Bartow; Sandra & husband Kenny Stewart of Riverside, CA; 2 sons: Michael Hammond of Lakeland; Benny & wife Connie Hammond of Birmingham, AL; Brother: Ray Carico of Kingsport, TN; 2 sisters: Irene Miller of Elizabethton, TN; Betty & husband Raymond Hammonds of Kingsport, TN. 7 Grandchildren; 14 Great grandchildren & 2 Great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 19, 9:30-10:30 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Services will follow at the graveside at 11:00 am at Gandy Cemetery in Connersville.
