Mr. Max E.Thornburg, age 87, passed away from complications of Alzheimer's Disease Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Rohr Home in Bartow. Born August 10, 1924 in Saint Paul, IN, he was the son of the late Russell and Ethel Thornburg. Mr.Thornburg was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps. He worked for many years in the construction industry as a Building Contractor. Mr. Thornburg was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene of Bartow and a prominent member of the Bartow community. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Thornburg and wife Martha, sisters-in-law Dolores Thornburg and Pat Thornburg, brother-in-law Richard Remmler and nephew Mike Thornburg. Mr. Thornburg leaves behind a loving family that includes his wife of 35 years, Rosie Thornburg, daughter Sharon Lane (George) of Bartow, step son Gordon Polk (Marsha) of Bartow, his grandson Danny Lane (Anna-Maria) also of Bartow, two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother James Thornburg of Shelbyville, IN, his sister Evelyn Remmler of Saint Paul, IN, and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow where the family will receive friends Sunday, November 13th from 2PM to 4PM. Funeral services will follow Monday, November 14th at 10:00AM at the funeral home chapel.
