Mattie B. Colvin

Bartow - Mattie B. Fennell Colvin passed away Thursday afternoon, December 10, 2015 at home in Bartow. Born July 2,1927 in Jasper, Florida, she was the daughter of her late parents, Nellie Allen and Leonard G. Fennell. Mattie was a member of Turning Point Worship Center in Bartow and was a Christian. Mattie was a homemaker most of her life and devoted her entire life to her husband,children and grandchildren. Mattie was predeceased by her husband James T. Colvin in August, 2009 after a 67 year long marriage and her grandson Randy L. Colvin in 2004, and her parents and sisters, Lula, Margie and Jackie. She is survived by her children:daughters, Gwen C. Banks (Robert) of Bartow, Shirley C. Hagler (Buddy) of White Springs, Janice C. Anderson (Randy) of Merritt Island, and sons T. Lamar Colvin (Hazel) and James Mardi Colvin (Tina) both of Bartow. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Good Shepherd Hospice's nurses and aides for their exceptional concern and help. Services are being held Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00p.m. followed by services at 2:00 P.M. at the Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
