Mary Frances Reckeweg

Mary Frances Reckeweg, age 100, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025. She was born January 21, 1925 in Huntington, WV to Archie and Della Coleman. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Reckeweg. Mary is survived by her son Archie Connors & wife Priscilla of Lakeland, daughters Cynthia Reese Glover and Kathleen Connors both of Bartow, Janet Monte & husband Mario and Cynthia West both of Concord, NC, grandchildren Ryan Connors & wife Rene', Matthew Monte & wife Kathleen, Gabriel Monte, Adrian Monte & wife Nicole and Emilie West and 13 great grandchildren. Mary was employed by the State Attorney's Office for 60 years and was better known as "Felony Mary". Mary received numerous awards in her career some of which are the Judicial Award from the Florida Council of Crime and Delinquency, Chapter XII. She was also awarded a flag by Governor Jeb Bush for her long time service with the State of Florida. The Department of Corrections, Women's History Program honored her with a certificate of appreciation. Most recently, Mary was presented a plaque from Sheriff Grady Judd deputizing her as an honorary Deputy Sheriff. Over the years, Mary belonged to the Cricket Club of Bartow, the Junior Women's Club of Lakeland and the Women's Club of Fort Meade. She also received recognition from the City of Bartow by naming a street in her honor named "Mary Reckeweg Way" which is located on the west side of the Polk County Courthouse. She is a long time member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bartow, FL. Mary has been blessed with many special friends and never met a stranger. She was always grateful for all her friends. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 W. Stuart St. in Bartow, FL.
