Rev. Mary A. McClain, age 79, passed away from respiratory failure on Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Clermont. Born on February 5, 1935 in Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Ida Ostrander. Mary was a bus driver and cook for Headstart of Wahneta for many years. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Alexander McClain in 1976. She is survived by five daughters: Berna McClain of Orlando, Karen Smallacombe (Dusty) of Memphis, TN, Ida Robertson (Greg Kallner) Tryon, NC, Margaret Hall of Winter Haven, Cindy Crowe (James) of Winter Haven, two sons: Robert McClain (Dede) of Bartow, James McClain (Julie) of Alturas, her companion Claude Davis, her sister Gracie Viola of Pensacola, 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1st from 2 PM to 4 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Monday, June 2nd at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel.
