Mary J. Lewis

Mrs. Mary J. Lewis, age 75, died Tuesday Sept. 16, 2008 from cancer at home in Lakeland. Born July 9, 1933 in Geneva County, AL, she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Dolly (Wise) McCollough. Mary was a longtime Lakeland resident. She was a homemaker and attended Shepherd Road Baptist Church. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 57 years, Lee Roy Lewis of Lakeland, two daughters; Glenda Cumbee (Wes) of Ashford, AL, Cathy Jones (Sim) of Mulberry, and sister Doris Register of Alturas. She also leaves behind two grandchildren; Joshua Cumbee (Kaysie), Patrick Jones and three great grandchildren; Brooke Cumbee, Blake Cumbee, and Jaiden Sanders. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow where family will receive friends Thursday Sept. 18th from 5PM to 7PM. Services for Mrs. Lewis will follow Friday Sept. 19th at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel.
