Mrs. Mary Josephine Jennings Sthreshley, age 87, of Signal Mountain, TN (formerly Fort Meade, FL), died Sunday, August 17, 2008, in Signal Mountain, TN. Mrs. Sthreshley was born July 2, 1921 in Hillsville, VA. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Meade. She was a Graduate of Maryville College in Maryville, TN and she earned her Master's Degree in Christian Education from Presbyterian School of Christian Education at Union Theological Seminary. She was a retired educator having taught at Lewis Elementary School, Fort Meade Jr./ Sr. High School and Fort Meade Middle School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Lawrence F. Sthreshley Jr., her parents Chester A. & Minnie G. Jennings, her sisters, Aster Lanter andbrother, John Jennings.
She is survived by her
Two Daughters; Julia Henderson and husband Greg of Signal Mountain, TN and Rebekah Combs and Husband Carl of Lexington, KY.
One Son; Lawrence "Fitz" Sthreshley III and Wife Lauretta of Flat Rock, NC.
Two Sisters; Vivian Frazier of High Point, NC and Priscilla Baker of Bonita, CA.
Two Brothers; Roger Jennings of Summerville, SC and James Jennings of Richmond, VA.
Eight Grandchildren; Caroline Moehlman, Mary Payne Varady and husband Shaun, Clinton Combs, Catherine Combs, Lara Sthreshley, Maggie Sthreshley, Matt Grainger, and Lawerence Fitzhugh Sthreshley IV.

A Memorial service will follow the graveside service at The First Presbyterian Church of Fort Meade, 118 N. Pine Avenue, Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11:00 am.
