Mary Jean Hiss

Bartow- Mary Jean Harmon Hiss, 73 passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Good Sheperd Hospice in Auburndale. Born and raised in Bartow, Florida, Mrs. Hiss was a graduate of Summerlin Institute. Mary Jean attended a Junior College in Orlando where she met her husband of 54 years: Richard Hiss. His position with Standard Oil of California took them to various locations until they came full cycle back to Bartow in 1972. For 27 years she was a member of the Bartow Hospital Auxilary serving as President on several occasions. She was an avid tennis player and never lost interest in the game. She is survived by her husband Richard; two daughters: Elizabeth and Irene all of Bartow; sister: Marcia Harmon; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her family will miss her terribly but know she is in a better place. At her request, no services are to be held. In lieu of flowers, remembrances could be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave, Auburndale, Fl. 33823.
