Mary Ruth Hatmaker-Trent passed away on September 1, 2013, in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease. A graveside memorial service will occur Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Wildwood cemetery in Bartow, Florida, at 10 AM with her nephew Reverend David Hatmaker officiating. Mary was born June 2, 1937, at a small mining camp in Fields, Kentucky, to Pearl Reed Hatmaker and Jeff Hatmaker. She held many positions during her life, always with compassion and selflessness. Most recently, she worked at The Carpenters Home in Lakeland, Florida, as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Mary was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Lois Trent and Shirley Ann Trent. Mary was one of twelve children. Both of her parents are deceased as well as several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Dr. William Trent, (JoAnn Mary) of La Grange, Kentucky. She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer and Buddy Trent of La Grange. She has one great-grandchild, Aidan Trent. Mary has several surviving sisters and one surviving brother: Joann McIntosh of Auburndale, Vivian Scales (Charles) of Auburndale, Kay Troup (Lamar) of Jacksboro, Tennessee, and Jim Hatmaker (Grace). Mary’s influence on those around her has become more apparent since the onset of her illness and recent death. Her emphasis on service, helping others in need and turning negatives into positives has helped many find meaning in their own lives. She will be missed as she passes from this world to the next.
