Mary Bourque

Bartow - Mary Bourque, age 97, passed away January 19th, 2022, at her home in Bartow. She was born on December 8, 1924, in Newburyport, MA. As an active duty military spouse she faithfully served with her husband over the course of a 20 year Naval career while raising 5 children. Living abroad, she was voted Queen of the Seabees while stationed in Trinidad Tobago. An accomplished golfer she was base champion at Quonset Pont Naval Base and later placed 3 times at the National Senior Olympics including winning first place. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and an advent church volunteer who served communion to the home bounded on Sunday. She actively enjoyed playing chair volleyball, shuffleboard and quilting. She preceded the death of her husband Chief Petty Officer Alfred Bourque and is survived by a loving family that includes daughter Patricia Whiting (Theodore) of Bartow, sons Peter Bourque (Gladys) of Warwick, RI, Tim Bourque of Bartow, Dennis Bourque (Star) of Indianapolis, IN and John Bourque (Mary) of Coventry, RI, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 6 PM - 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10 AM at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to a charity that is special to you.
