Martha I. Underwood

Martha I Underwood , age 95, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Life Care Center in Winter Haven of natural causes. Born March 6, 1918 in New Castle, PA, Mrs. Underwood was a longtime resident of Alturas. She was a member of the Alturas United Methodist Church and the Alturas Women's Club. Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Underwood. She is survived by a son, Dick Murphy, Bartow, two daughters, Christine Bernstein, Aventura, FL & Sue Carter, St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren, Justin Murphy, Melanie Carter, Susan Conner, Carrie Mercure & Stephanie Buckler and five great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alturas United Methodist Church.
