Martha E. Mann

Martha Pipkin Pitts Mann, age 81, passed away from heart failure Tuesday October 5, 2010 at her home in Bartow. Born November 7, 1928 in Holmes County, FL, she was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Lucinda (Sims) Pipkin, Mrs. Mann had been a resident of Bartow since 1953, moving from Panama City at that time. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow and a member of Peace River Country Club, along with the V.F.W. #2405 Ladies' Auxiliary, and the Chamber of Commerce in Bartow. Mrs. Mann is preceded in death by two children; Tim W. Pitts, Glennis Pitts, and her first husband Johnnie B. Pitts. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 46 years, Charles A. "Bud" Mann, three granddaughters; Denise L. Daly of Knoxville, TN, Kimberlie Riggs of Lakeland, Michelle Marcantoni of New Port Richey, one brother; Leslie Pipkin of Bonifay, FL, and a sister Florence Retherford of KY. She also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren; Courtney, Stewart, Cody, Caitlin, Hannah, and Hallie. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main Street in Bartow where the family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 7th from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services for Mrs. Mann will follow Friday, Oct. 8th at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Bartow, 410 E. Church Street in Bartow.
