Marlin Adkison

Marlin Adkison, 85, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of cancer. Born on February 10, 1929 in Hacoda, AL, he was the son of William D. and Jessie Adkison. Mr. Adkison moved to Bartow from Alabama in 1943. He was a member of Florida National Guard and he was Baptist. Mr. Adkison was employed with the City of Bartow for many years as Maintenance Superintendent at the Bartow Airbase. Marlin is preceded in death by his wife Jimmie Adkison and his daughter Betty Jo Strickland. He is survived by three daughters; Frances Walden of Bartow, Patricia Adkison of Winter Haven, Sandra Bashlor (Ronnie) of Lakeland, his brother Holland Adkison (Evelyn) of Dothan, AL, his two sisters; Pat Allen (Don) of Crawfordville, FL, Ann Griffin (Richard) of Bartow and his friend Kathy Haley, 8 grandchildren & 18 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Bartow First Assembly of God, 915 S. Broadway.
