Mrs. Marjorie P. Tanner, age 80, passed away from heart failure Sunday, April 22, 2012. Born June 24, 1931 in Fairmont, WV, she was the daughter of the late Hinton Noble and Edna Violet Peirce. Mrs. Tanner was a longtime Bartow resident and worked for over 20 years as a Paraprofessional at Stephens Elementary School in Bartow. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, Lakeland Highlands Ward. She formerly attended the First Assembly of God of Bartow. Mrs. Tanner was a member of T.O.P.S. and will be remembered as a devoted matriarch and friend. She is also preceded in death by her husband, C.H. Tanner in 1993 and two brothers. She is survived by a loving family that includes three sons; David A. Tanner (Ava) of Lakeland, Mark Steven Tanner (Meg) of Pinecrest, Jeffery L. Tanner (Kristen G. Storms) of Winter Haven, two daughters; Carol L. Vieira (Edward) of Modesto, CA, and Traci E. Fiveash (Jim) of Bartow. She also leaves behind five sisters; Jane Cavalo of Fairmont, WV, Jean Lashuk of Reno, NV, Pat Lazarko of Bartow, Ilean Ecret of Lakeland, Mary Lou Dailey a missionary to Israel, 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 25th from 6PM to 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Graveside services will follow Thursday, April 26th at 10:00AM at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
