Marion Virgene Presley Rainey, aged 89, passed away in her sleep at her home in Bartow on May 14, 2024, after an extensive journey with dementia. Born February 18, 1935, to Mary Maude Capps and Jesse Fred Presley in Ashburn, GA, she was the last survivor of her five siblings. An avid antique dealer and a master quilter, Marion also sang alto in the Bartow First Baptist choir. She ran antique businesses all over the world where she and her husband were stationed, and then owned the Enchanted Cottage Antiques in Bartow for many years. She taught quilting to individuals as well as classes through Grannie’s Trunk in Lakeland and Asbury United Methodist Church in Bartow. A 1953 graduate from Summerlin High School, she also had a degree in Interior Design and received training through the University of North Dakota on how to restore antique portraits, paintings, and furniture. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings as well as her husband, Major Robert K. Rainey, Sr., USAF-retired. Survivors include her son Bob, her daughters Evelyn and Karen, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29 beginning at 10:00 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street, Bartow, FL.
