Marion Allen Hain

March 20, 1926 — February 9, 2022

Marion Allen Hain, Jr., age 95, of Bartow died Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Lakeland Hospice House. Born in Lakeland, FL, to Marion and Mytle Myers Hain, he was a lifelong resident of Bartow. A graduate of Summerlin Institute, now Bartow High School, with the class of 1943, he was a member of the Junior Civil Air Patrol through which he learned to fly an airplane. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute for a year prior to serving with the U.S. Army during World War II. At the conclusion of the war in Europe in 1945, he served with the Amy occupation until 1946. Upon returning to the States, he enrolled in Auburn University and graduated in 1949 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Design. He returned to membership in the Civil Air Patrol and served many years in search and rescue, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was employed by Swift & Company Phosphate, Wellman-Lord, Food Machinery Corporation and Kunde Yaskin in industrial design and civil engineering. He was a longtime member of the Bartow Lions Club holding many offices, in including President of the Club. He served as a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Bartow; on the official board of the First United Methodist Church; and as an Deacon and Elder of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Allen is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Hain. He is survived by a loving family including his daughter: Rebecca Delph (David) of Plant City, FL; a son: David A. Hain (Judi) of Babson Park, FL. two grandsons: Brian Hain of Hershey, PA, and Andrew Delph of Nashville, TN; a granddaughter: Ashley Delph of Plant City. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 10:30 to 11:00 AM at the Bartow Associate Reformed Church, services will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church with Rev. M.
