Marilyn Kay Downing

Marilyn Kay Downing, 61, died on January 25, 2013 after a battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, William E. Hammond and mother, Maxie C. Hammond. Kay is survived by her two children, W. Troy Downing (Jenna) and Lacey K. Sherrouse (Cody), and 4 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jean Ellis (Ray), her brother Michael Hammond, her half-sister Sandra Stewart (Kenneth), and her half-brother Benny Hammond (Connie). Kay was born in ­­­­­­­Kingsport, Tennessee on October 2, 1951. She moved to Florida in 1966 and graduated from Bartow Senior High School in 1969. Kay worked for Mosaic and its predecessor companies for the last 44 years. Flowers can be sent to Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, Florida. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E Main Street, Bartow. Memorial services will follow at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
