Fort Meade - Marian Grunholzer Clyatt, 97, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at home. Born March 14, 1929, to John and Jewel Pauline Grunholzer, Marian was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade, FL. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and also worked for several years as a secretary with the Polk County Maintenance Department located in Fort Meade. Her love of music began early, and beginning at age 11 she played violin in the Esther Mayhall Kiddie’s Orchestra. Marian graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1947 and attended Stetson University School of Music. She was a founding member of the Fort Meade Historical Society, member of the Fort Meade Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a volunteer service organization, and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade where she was the former church pianist, organist and children’s Sunday School teacher. Marian is survived by her three children, Gay Weisenthal and husband Howard, San Luis Obispo, CA, John M. Clyatt and wife Ghia, Bartow, FL, and Jan M. Clyatt, Fort Meade, FL; four grandchildren, Mary Royer, Morgan Clyatt, Courtney Barnett, David Barnett, and eight great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway in Fort Meade, FL. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, Fort Meade Historical Society, or to the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes.
