Maria Monserrate Berrios

May 29, 1958 — October 6, 2024

Maria Monserrate Berrios, 66, departed this world peacefully on October 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving daughters at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, Florida. Born on May 29, 1958, in Fort Pierce, Florida, to the late Virginio Perez and Monserrate “Mama” Perez-Rodriguez, Maria embodied a fierce love that enveloped everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a testament to devotion, as she poured her heart into caring for her daughters and adoring her grandchildren. The warmth of her traditional Puerto Rican meals lingered long after the last bite, just as her laughter filled every corner of the room. Maria was relentless in her work ethic, always giving her all, driven by a deep compassion for others that made everyone feel like family. She cherished moments spent at the casino, reveling in the thrill of chance, and found joy in the innocence of babies and the gentle nature of animals. Yet, it was her family and friends who held her heart, and her absence leaves an aching void that will be felt deeply by all who loved her. Maria will be profoundly missed, her spirit forever woven into the fabric of our lives. Left to cherish Maria’s memory is her former husband Benjamin Berrios; her adoring daughter’s, Elizabeth Berrios, Janet Hughes and her husband, Travis Hughes, Stephanie Thomason and her husband, Jeremiah Thomason, Jennifer Berrios and her fiancé, Laura Mataya, Jessica Berrios, and her fiancé Walter Turner Jr.; grandchildren, Nicole and Anthony Ortiz, Kiely Hughes, Jeremiah Jr. and Briana Thomason, Jonah Mataya, and Marley Ramirez; great grandchildren, Alivia and Josiah Ortiz; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, she is also survived by a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors. Maria’s viewing will take place Wednesday, October 16th from 10am-11am at Revive Church located at 5410 Yarborough Lane Lakeland, FL 33812. Immediately following the viewing the funeral will start at 11am. Donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
