Marguere Coffee Parker, age 91, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2016. She was born March 31, 1927 in Stiversville, Tennessee, to the late Marvin Young and Emma Lillian (Duncan) Coffey. Mrs. Parker “Pete” moved to Bartow in 1950 where she met her husband of 65 years, Joyce Emanuel “Lucky” Parker, who preceded her in death October 13, 2016. She is also preceded in death by her brother, William Franklin “Bill” Coffey; and sisters Dannie, Mary Lurline and Christine Coffee and Ella Coffee Stevens. She is survived by her children, Glenna Sirmans of Bend, OR, Marilyn Hodge Oliver (Sean) of Birmingham, AL, and Terry Keith Parker (Karen) of Lakeland, FL; brother L M Coffey (Joann) of Columbia, TN; granddaughter, Camden Sirmans Sabat (Tim) of Bend, OR; step-grandsons, Kristopher and Tyler Kissel; great grandsons, Parker and Macon Sabat. Nicknamed “Pete” while living in Columbia, TN, the nickname remained the rest of her life. After more than 30 years as a telephone operator, Pete retired from GTE Corporation. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Bartow for over 6 decades. She shared her loving spirit through volunteer work at Grace Diner and the Bartow Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed working in her yard, traveling and adding to her Fenton and red glassware collections. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 23, at 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E Main St Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
