Margaret Watts Thompson

Margaret Watts Thompson, age 84, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025. She was born April 26, 1940 in Wilmington, NC to Amos & Olivia Watts. She was an Assistant to the Superintendent. for over 37 years at the Polk County School Board. She was a member of First Christian Church of Bartow. Margaret was an Emeritus member of the Bartow Crickette Club and served as Past President. She served on the Bloomin' Arts Committee for many years. She assisted with sponsor leads, volunteers and purchase awards in the early years, and was a constant presence at the Festival. Her true love was the plant show and she took on the responsibility of recruiting the plant and produce vendors and running that aspect of the show as long as she was able. Margaret is survived by her husband of 65 years Earl H. Thompson of Bartow, sister Veda Nicholson & husband Terry of Bartow, sister-in-law Janice Thompson of Fort Meade, niece Ann Renee' Nichols & husband Joe, great nephews Amos Nichols & wife Maria and Austin Nichols & wife Brittany, great great niece and nephews Austin, Colton, Beau and Kimber. Family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL. Memorials can be made to First Christian Church, 400 S Oak Ave, Bartow, FL 33830.
