Lafayette, Indiana--Margaret Amelia (Hunter) Lane, age 90, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at IU Medical Health (Arnett) Facility in Lafayette, Indiana. Born on June 17, 1924 in Bartow, Florida to the late Louie and Annie (Burnett) Hunter. Mrs. Lane was a resident of Lafayette, Indiana since moving from Bartow in 1945, after her marriage to R. Franklin Lane on September 12th of that year. She was a former member of the Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of Congress Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Indiana. After graduation from Summerlin Institute in 1942, she was employed as a billing clerk at Southern Phosphate, was a member of the "Victory Bells" during WWII, and a homemaker after her journey up North. Mrs. Lane is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers (Louie B. and Lester), her husband Frank, and a grandson Russell Lane. She is survived by her son, Larry (wife, Rita), Lafayette, Indiana, and a daughter, Beverly Bender (husband, Fred), Wesley Chapel, Florida. There are four grandchildren: Anji Bort (Oviedo, Florida), Jennifer Winn (Sheridan, Indiana), Kara Ballentine (Oviedo, Florida), and Craig Bender (Cocoa, Florida) There are ten Great-Grandchildren with another due in February. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery (Bartow).
