Lucy Owen Salley

Lucy Owen Salley 75 of Bartow passed away Friday January 28, 2011 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Born in New Hope, Florida Lucy moved to the Bartow area as a young woman and graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1953. Lucy retired from the Polk County School System as an Administrative Secretary with twenty-nine years of service. She was of the Protestant Faith and enjoyed art, reading and like to sew and cook. Lucy was a member of the Bartow Art Guild and the Bartow Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she served as Correspondence Secretary and on the Out Patient Improvement Committee. She was also a active Poll Worker in Polk County. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Salley and is survived by son James D. Salley of Bartow; daughter Amber Jones of Lakeland; two grandchildren Amylyn Jones of of Lake City, FL; Matthew Jones of Chadwicks, NY and four great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Tuesday February 1, 2011 from 6-8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral home in Bartow and services will follow on Wednesday at 10am at the Funeral Home.
