Mrs. Lucile Patterson Collins, age 89, passed away from heart failure, Monday, August 30, 2010. Born March 8, 1921 in Columbus, Georgia, Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late Isaac and Martha Patterson. Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow. Mrs. Collins was a Children's Sunday School teacher for many years. She also contributed in many other children's activities that included Vacation Bible School and the Children's Choir. Mrs. Collins also served the church on the Flower and Decorating Committee as well as serving as treasurer of the Martha Puckett Bible Study Group. She also enjoyed many trips with the church's senior group, " Live Long and Like It". Mrs. Collins is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph R. Collins. She is survived by a loving family that includes two daughters; Jolene Collins Howell and husband Marty of Babson Park, Lucy J. Collins of Wake Forest, NC; son John E. Collins and wife Carol of Saint Augustine, FL. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Emily Howell Rogers and husband Dane of Lakeland, Greer Collins of China, Todd Howell and wife Melinda of Ocoee, Seth Collins of Marietta, GA , Carla Kick and husband Michael, Cheryl Fountain and husband Daniel, great grandchildren; Lacey Hollingsworth and husband Keith, Daniel Fountain, Jackson Howell, Braden Howell, and her great great grandchild Halee, and sister-in-law Mary C. Hastain of Clovis, NM. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 2nd from 10am to 11am at the First Baptist Church of Bartow, 410 East Church Street in Bartow. . Services for Mrs. Collins will follow at 11:00am at the church. Memorial contributions may be to the Memorial Scholarship Fund 410 East Church Street, Bartow FL, 33830.
