Mrs. Lillian Lewis Martin, age 88, passed away from heart failure Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Palm Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeland. Born February 25, 1920 in Swainsboro, GA , Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Thomas George and Annie Alva (Waller) Lewis. Mrs. Martin was a Cosmetician for Rich's Department Store in Atlanta for many years. Later she moved to Bartow with her late husband, Coleman Martin. Mrs Martin was a longtime member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow, a member of the Bartow Art Guild and a former member of the Ridge Orchid Society. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Mary Crowe. She is survived by three sisters; Lucille Hill of Swainsboro, Geneva Rhoden of Augusta, GA, and Virginia Hall of Wadley, GA. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, her church family and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow where friends will be received Thursday May 1, 2008 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Services for Mrs. Martin will be Friday at 10:00 AM at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church 205 East Stanford Street in Bartow. Interment will be in Swainsboro, GA.
