Ligia Maria Haedo

Ligia Maria Haedo, lovingly known as "Chichi," age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. She was born on September 18, 1937, in Havana, Cuba, to Jesus and Angelina Perez.

Ligia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose love, creativity, faith, and adventurous spirit touched all who knew her. A woman of many talents, she enjoyed creating beautiful artwork and writing poetry. She was a skilled seamstress who lovingly made baby clothes and layettes for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a special passion for porcelain dolls, delighting in both making the dolls and sewing their exquisite dresses by hand.

Ligia had a deep love for music and ballet, finding joy and inspiration in their beauty and expression. She was also an exceptional cook who took great pride in preparing meals for her family. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, love, and togetherness, and she found happiness in nourishing those she loved. Family gatherings were often centered around the delicious meals she prepared, creating cherished memories that will live on for generations.

Known for her adventurous nature, Ligia embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved water skiing, roller skating, horseback riding, and anything that brought a sense of excitement and speed. Her vibrant spirit, courage, and zest for life were an inspiration to her family and friends.

Above all, Ligia was a woman of deep faith who loved praising and worshiping the Lord. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and strength she shared with others. She was a dedicated mother who taught her children the values of humility, respect, love, and devotion to family.

Ligia was preceded in death by a beloved infant child, her sister, Miriam Carrion; and her brother, Roger Perez.

She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 70 years, Osvaldo Haedo, Sr.; her sister, Oneida Perez, her daughters, Mercedes Haedo (Brian Allen) and Maria E. Gomez (Gilbert); her sons, Osvaldo Haedo, Jr. (Ency Quintero), Alejandro Haedo (Maria), and Roger Haedo (Sallyann); her nine grandchildren, Michelle Zamora, Michael Gomez, Gabriel Gomez, Amanda Shirk, Armani Quintero, Gina Quintero, Christina Steuber, Juliann Haedo, and Analiz Fitzsimmons; and her six great-grandchildren, Angeline, Michael, Ailani, Natalia, Luca, and Elyse; her step-great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kylie, McKenzie, Gatlin, Aaliyah, Michael, and Chipper; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, Florida. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade.

Ligia Maria Haedo, cariñosamente conocida por todos como "Chichi", partió en paz a la presencia del Señor el miércoles 3 de junio de 2026, a la edad de 88 años. Nació el 18 de septiembre de 1937 en La Habana, Cuba, hija de Jesús y Angelina Pérez.

Chichi fue una esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga ejemplar, cuya vida estuvo llena de amor, creatividad, fe y espíritu aventurero. Su cariño, generosidad y alegría dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron la dicha de conocerla.

Mujer de muchos talentos, disfrutaba creando hermosas obras de arte y escribiendo poesía. Fue una excelente costurera que confeccionó con amor ropa y ajuares para bebés para cada uno de sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos. También sentía una pasión especial por las muñecas de porcelana; disfrutaba tanto elaborándolas como cosiendo a mano sus delicados y hermosos vestidos.

Ligia sentía un profundo amor por la música y el ballet, encontrando alegría e inspiración en su belleza y expresión. También era una cocinera excepcional que se enorgullecía de preparar comidas para su familia. Su cocina era un lugar de calor humano, amor y unión familiar, y encontraba una gran satisfacción en alimentar y cuidar a quienes amaba. Las reuniones familiares solían girar en torno a los deliciosos platos que preparaba, creando recuerdos entrañables que perdurarán por generaciones.

Conocida por su espíritu aventurero, Chichi vivió la vida con entusiasmo y alegría. Le encantaba esquiar sobre el agua, patinar, montar a caballo y disfrutar de cualquier actividad que le brindara emoción y velocidad. Su energía contagiosa, valentía y amor por la vida fueron una inspiración constante para su familia y amigos.

Por encima de todo, fue una mujer de profunda fe cristiana. Amaba alabar y adorar al Señor, y su fe la sostuvo y guió durante toda su vida. Esa fe se reflejaba en la bondad, la compasión y la fortaleza que compartía con quienes la rodeaban. Como madre dedicada, enseñó a sus hijos los valores de la humildad, el respeto, el amor y la importancia de la familia.

Le precedieron en la partida a la Casa del Padre un querido hijo que falleció siendo recién nacido, su hermana Miriam Carrion y su hermano Roger Pérez.

La familia recibirá a familiares y amigos de 2:00 p.m. a 3:00 p.m. el domingo 14 de junio de 2026 en McLean Funeral Home, ubicado en 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, Florida. A las 3:00 p.m. se celebrará el servicio fúnebre. El sepelio tendrá lugar en el Cementerio Evergreen de Fort Meade.
