Lester B. Thompson

Lester B. "Arkie" Thompson, age 84, died Mon., March 9, 2009 at home in Bartow from Parkinson's Disease. Born June 6, 1924 in Cantwell, MO, Mr. Thompson was a Bartow resident since 1970. He worked as an Electrician for the City of Bartow, along with other contract companies. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and attended the First Christian Church of Bartow. He is preceded in death by his wife Annie Catherine Thompson. He is survived by a loving family that includes four sons; Richard Thompson (Pam) of Casselberry, FL, William David Thompson (Judy) of Hampton Oaks, FL, Jerry Michael Thompson (Wanda) of Beverly Hills, FL, Leslie Byron Thompson (Chris) of Batavia, OH, three daughters; Patricia Ann Thompson, Sharon Kay Thompson, and Pamela Lynn Thompson all of Bartow, FL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, two great granchildren, three brothers, and one sister. Family will receive friends Thursday, March 12th from 5 to 7 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow. Services for Mr. Thompson will follow Friday, March 13th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
