Homeland- Leland D. Watson, 92, died of heart failure, Thursday, Feb 8, 2007, at Morven, Ga. Mr. Watson was a native and lifelong resident of Homeland, FL. He was employed by Swift & Co. Phosphate and was a member of Peace Creek Baptist Church. During WWII, Mr. Watson built naval ships and armored vehicles for the war effort. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Watson. He is survived by his wife: Barbara Watson; 2 sons: Roger L. Watson & wife Jo Anne of Immokalee; Harvey Watson & wife Adrianne of Yulee, FL. Step-son: James Smith of Saint Augustine; Brother: Glen Watson of Lake Wales; Grandsons: Roger Watson, Jr & wife Shannon; Rodney Watson & wife Debra; Christopher Watson & wife Tonya: D. J. Watson & wife Angela; step grandson-Buford Smith & wife April; great grandchildren: Clint Watson; Damon Watson; Emily Watson; Colton Watson; Pate Watson. Step-great grandchildren: Logan Smith; Jason Smith and Galon Smith. Family will receive friends Saturday Feb 17, 1-2 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow, with services following at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
