Lavon Donald Hooper

Lakeland - Lavon D. Hooper, age 76, passed away May 14, 2024 at his residence in Lakeland. He was born September 19, 1947 in Hayesville, NC. Mr. Hooper was a longtime resident of Lakeland and a Vietnam Veteran. He was a 43 year retiree with CSX Railroads and a member of the VFW in Hayesville, NC and the F.A.I.T.H Riders Ministries in Lakeland. Lavon was a homebody that loved spending time with his grandchildren, sharing stories and interests with them. When he was not at home, he enjoyed riding motorcycles through the mountains of North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Zelpha Hooper and brother, Sherell Hooper. Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Doreen Hooper of Lakeland; son, Justin Hooper (Holly) of Lakeland; son, Brian Hooper (Karina) of Naples; son, Jason Hooper (Joanna) of Saint Simons Island, GA; daughter, Dana Harris (Don) of Lakeland; as well as 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Ardella Baptist Church in Lakeland. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Ardella Baptist Church. Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with military honors on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to F.A.I.T.H Riders or St. Jude.
