Lavelle Churchwell

Mrs. Lavelle Churchwell passed away from a blood disorder, Monday, July 23, 2007 at her home in Bartow. She was 84. Born January 9, 1923 in Hacoda, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William and Jessie Adkison. She came to Bartow 62 years ago from Alabama. Mrs. Churchwell worked as a supervisor at a sectionizing plant for Ben Hill Griffin, Inc.. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow where she was active in the L.L.L. group. She also was an active member of the Golden Age Group of Bartow and was an Ambassador for the Bartow Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Churchwell is also preceded in death by her husband, Grace Churchwell. She is survived by a loving family that includes two sons; Rev. James W. Churchwell of Stuart, VA , Kenneth Michael Churchwell of Greenville, SC, three brothers; Holland Adkison of Dothan, AL, Marlin Adkison and Emmett Adkison both of Bartow, and three sisters; Lois Theilen and Annette Griffin both of Bartow, and Patricia Allen of Medart, FL. Mrs. Churchwell also leaves behind five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Churchwell will be Wednesday July 25, 2007 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street, Bartow. Funeral services will follow Thursday July 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM at ther funeral home chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Community Fellowship Building Fund, P.O.
