Laurene G. Benton

Laurene G. Benton of 2055 S. Floral Avenue, Bartow, Florida passed away on April 22, 2026, at Lakeland Regional Health. A native of Manlius, New York, she had resided in Bartow since 1946. She was preceded in death by parents Mildred and Howard Garrett, sisters Norlyna (Jeannie) Gough & Marjorie Harris and brothers Rod, Curtis and Lloyd Garrett. In earlier years she was employed at the Polk County Sheriff's Department, C.F. Chemicals, Inc, Les Pickett Architect and a Legal Secretary at the State Attorney’s Office. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bartow and activities at Floral Lakes. She was the widow of Harold Benton. She is survived by her son Daniel Garrett Benton, daughter Valere Kirkland, son in law Gerald Kirkland, grandchildren Amanda Craven, Lindsey Kirkland, Allison Brooke Benton, Saralyn Benton & Josh Benton, four great grandchildren Kayla Jackson, Savannah Jackson, Hunter Kirkland & Sophie Kirkland and one great great grandchild Liam Bell. She dearly loved her family and friends, both departed and living. Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Bartow.
